Portland is a beautiful Victorian coastal town located 360 kilometres west of Melbourne and 75 kilometres east (by road) from the South Australian border. It has a population of around 12,000 and features many historic buildings. The numerous short stretches of beach fronting still waters are perfect for family recreation, with Portland Bay ideal for fishing, boating and sailboarding.

There are a number of National Parks which take you on historic walks including where Mary MacKillop lived for some time. Barrett's Winery is only a short drive from Portland and is open 11am - 5pm daily, selling wines such as cabernet sauvignon, riesling and pinot noir.
